This international symposium, co-sponsored by the Advanced Institute of Management (AIM) is a two half-day event on 10th-11th March 2011, including presentations from EU and US scholars. This academic workshop focuses on innovation and practices in professional services bringing together people working on the development of professional services, particularly but not exclusively in design and engineering. The focus of the event is the intersection between the capabilities view of the firm and institutional theory.

Topics include the long term evolution of engineering consultants, study of capability development through large scale projects, case studies on distributed leadership and multinationality in professional service organisations. Confirmed speakers and/or discussants include Royston Greenwood (Alberta), Heidi Gardner (Harvard), Candace Jones (Boston), Paula Jarzabkowski (Aston), and Bruce Tether, Markus Perkmann, Nelson Phillips (Imperial College London).
