DRUID Summer Conference 2010

Event : DRUID Summer Conference 2010

Date :  16/06/2010

The UK~IRC were the biggest sponsors of the DRUID Summer Conference held at Imperial College Business School on 16th-18th June 2010. The event brought together a global community of 300 researchers on innovation and industrial dynamics ranging from professorial to doctoral level. During the conference, researchers from over 30 countries presented their latest findings on innovation management and strategy, entrepreneurship and the economics of innovation. In his opening remarks, the DRUID Director, Peter Maskell, emphasised the high calibre of accepted papers and the opportunity for long-standing members and new researchers to share ideas and approaches to our greater global challenges.

For the UK~IRC, this was an excellent opportunity to be part of a well established international conference and by sponsoring two tracks (Open Innovation and Distributed Innovation and Innovation and Institutions in Services) guided participants to the work we are currently undertaking. The conference was co-organised by UK~IRC Research Director Dr Ammon Salter, who was instrumental in holding the event at the UK~IRC’s London base, whilst several UK~IRC researchers delivered papers or chaired sessions at the conference both in main and break-out streams, including Professor Alan Hughes, Dr Martin Kilduff and Professor Bruce Tether.

The UK~IRC brand was well promoted through the conference and the central place of our research in the programme allowed us to simultaneously promote our events and knowledge exchange activities. Overall, participation in the DRUID Conference 2010 has broadened our visibility, added to our network and established valuable contacts for our future work.
